The most active team in the run-up to the IPL 2024 auction is the Mumbai Indians, who made headlines by bringing an end to the ten-year leadership of Rohit Sharma and repurchasing Hardik Pandya.
Despite Cameron Green’s stellar rookie season with Royal Challengers Bangalore, when he was purchased for an astounding Rs. 17.5 crore, they discharged Green to make room for Pandya’s comeback.
Even with these big trades—which include the addition of West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd from the Lucknow Super Giants—the five-time winners still have a lot of work ahead of them. They want to go back to winning after three seasons without a championship or playoff appearance under Pandya’s direction.
The Mumbai Indians have a total budget of Rs. 17.75 crore for the IPL 2024 auction. They can get up to eight players at the auction, four of which could be foreign players, with their present team consisting of 17 players (four of whom are now overseas).
Starc’s return to the Royal Challengers Bangalore team will be greatly anticipated. They need an international pacer to cover for Josh Hazelwood, who they released prior to the auction.
With Hardik Pandya leaving, Gujarat Titans would also want to strengthen their pace attack. They also took the second-fewest wickets of any team, with just 76. With Starc on board, they will surely surpass these figures in 2024.
